I would like to thank Bill Teeter for his write up and pics of the Canadian Nationals 2019!!!!
On July 26-28, 2019 the Canadian Nationals was held at the Sudbury Model Aircraft Club near Coniston, Ontario in the Greater Sudbury Area. Twenty-nine pilots competed at the event, which was also the 15th anniversary of the Northern Ontario IMAC Challenge (NOIC).
The event was lead by CD Lee Prevost with assistance from his Co-CD Brendan Grace. To say the least, the SMAC club rolled out the red carpet and put on an event second to none. Pilots enjoyed incredible hospitality from the Sudbury event team including a memorable supper at the field on Friday evening and an awards banquet on Saturday night.
Friday was sunny, hot and windy and we managed to fly two flight lines to get two full rounds of Knowns completed. Saturday mother nature was not helpful and rain and thunderstorms moved in and basically washed us out for the day. Sunday we got the Unknowns flown and another round of Knowns before we finished of the event with several Freestyle flyers.
No one went home empty handed from this contest - all pilots received pilot shirts, engraved mugs, shot glasses, toques, 3D printed stick planes and a myriad of other pilot prizes that were handed out at the banquet.
Many thanks to Lee, Brendan and the whole Sudbury event team for an incredible weekend.
