Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my honor to announce the 2018 Sun Valley Cactus Classic IMAC in Phoenix, AZ on March 24th and 25th. This historic event is coming back to the Sun Valley Fliers RC Club, a premier flying field with a 600 ft long, 60 ft wide paved runway with paved and covered pit area.

This contest is one contest you WILL NOT WANT TO MISS! We are anticipating a pilot count of close to 50 pilots from all over the SW Region and beyond. Our aim is for this contest to be one of the premier regional IMAC contests in the country.

Saturday evening, we will be hosting a dinner banquet in a private hanger at the Scottsdale Airport. We will have the pleasure of enjoying the attendance of 3 full scale IAC aerobatic pilots AND THEIR PLANES:

Ron Chadwick and his spectacular single-place Pitts Special. Ron flew F-100's in Vietnam, hosts the IAC event in Marana, AZ and competes with his Pitts Special.

Michael Mohn and his Extra 300. Michael Mohn is an IAC champion and we are organizing a "Fly-by" over our contest in his Extra 300. Michael is also a model enthusiast who has many smaller models and is now just starting to get into some of the larger gas models. Let's show him how we do model aerobatics!! Hope he doesn't end up being in the judging chair behind me!!

Budd Davisson and his two-place Pitts Special. If you ever wanted to learn to fly aerobatics, this is the guy to talk to. Ask anybody who's anybody in the field of aerobatic and smaller planes in the SW (and much of the country) they'll know Budd Davisson! He probably signed off on their license at one point or another. Budd and Ron will also be making an appearance at our contest to check out what we do!

Customized pilot packets will be mailed approximately 1 month prior to the contest to all pre-registered contestants. If you are thinking of attending this contest, please pre-register and email, call or text Brad Beedy your address so that we can get these packets out to you in a timely manner. Also, please RSVP for the banquet brad@beedyinsurance.com or give me a call/text at 602-369-4163. Please include the number of attendees so we can plan accommodations appropriately. Banquet payment will be due at sign up on Saturday morning.

Back to the IMAC stuff - this contest is being hosted by the Sun Valley Fliers and run by Ernie Mack, Brad Beedy (myself,) CD'd by Randy Wegner, and assisted by Jacques Telles. In an effort to help eliminate the frustration of judging bias, the judging matrix will be generated by the new software that SW RD Alex Dreiling just rolled out.

Jackets for last year's champions will be presented by Rusty Fried, former CD of the Cactus Classic for many years. Jacket tradition will continue this year as well. Come give it your all to become one of the elite Cactus Classic champions!

There will be pilot prizes and a large raffle you'll want to be in on. More on this in the near future!

So.....Come One, Come All! Sign up today! The 2018 Sun Valley Cactus Classic is upon us!

We're just over a month away from the 2018 Sun Valley Cactus Classic IMAC! If you're pre-registered, please RSVP to Brad Beedy at brad@beedyinsurance.com or text / call 602-369-4163 as to your attendance to Saturday night's banquet and if you'll be alone or bringing guests. It is important to get as close as possible to exact attendance to be sure there will be plenty of food and refreshments as well as seating arrangements. This is going to be a great evening event with 3 full scale aerobatic airplanes and their pilots in attendance. This will be your chance to mingle with two IAC competitors and an IAC contest orgainzer in person.

If you're not pre-registered, and are planning to attend the Cactus Classic, please do so!

Looking forward to seeing you at the Southwest's premier IMAC event of the year!

We're only 1 week away from finding out who is going to next group of Cactus Classic champions! We're expecting quite a large group so we'll be starting early on Satruday. Pilot's meeting will be at 6:30 am with wheels up at 7. We have to be on our game as to have plenty of time to get the Freestyle in as well as make it to the Scottsdale Airport for the Inagural Cactus Classic dinner / banquet! The field will be open on Friday for practice. Ernie, Randy and I will be ou...t to the field early Friday getting things set up so come on out and get the thumbs warmed up. We'll also be conducting pre-registration on Friday as well as handing out pilot packets and banquet information.

If you haven't RSVP'd for the dinner, please do so immediately by emailing me at brad@beedyinsurance.com! We need this information to be sure we have enough food and seating for everyone wanting to attend. We'll have your tickets ready at the contest Friday and Saturday at which point you can pay for the tickets. $25 / attendee to cover the cost of hosting the dinner and banquet.

We'd also like to thank our sponsors, Desert Aircraft and PAU! We'll be raffling off a 35% PAU Extra / DA-120 combo! Ernie Mack worked hard to get this put together and just informed us of this exciting info!!!

Cactus Classic T-shirts will be available in limited supply at the contest so be sure to inquire upon arrival to be sure to get yours!

Also, upon registration, you'll receive your pilot package which will include contest schedule, your name tag, personalized score sheets, banquet map to private hangar where event is being held, and some Cactus Classic goodies!

Does that show what time the sun rises? I heard we were going to start flying in the morning with all the headlights turned on. LOL
