Do we have any info about Expo East participation? Who’s taking lead?

It used to be Tony Bonanno would set everything up, but since he has stepped down as the ARD, nothing was done by anyone else. According to Brad Davy he said that the BOD felt that IMAC wasn't getting any real business from the event so that is why nothing was done. I have worked the IMAC booth before it was the EXPO and in my opinion it was worth it. I still see the need to get the word out about the organization and to attract new members and we should have a presence at the EXPO. Maybe next year.

I will be happy to support it next year as long as someone steps up to take the lead, coordinates the volunteers, and starts planning for it not later than August/September. That will give us the opportunity to work any budget requirements into the budget for next year, which is typically approved in October. If nobody starts thinking about it until January, it won't happen.

Brad, to be fair to all and understanding your obvious frustration about the late query. I think there were assumptions that it was being handled status quo. Better transition communications about an impending need for an organizer would have possibly prevented the proverbial dropped ball this year. I don’t think it was an intentional neglect but simply communication and logistics. We have a couple new ARDs in NE now so I think next year would be a perfect opportunity to get at least one of them involved in this outreach.

I agree with Bill, in that, the true measure may not be membership’s signed but how many people were spoken to, educated and introduced in a welcoming manner.

To be effective, I agree with you Brad, that prior planning, a coverage plan and a marketing plan of action is required for an effective use of budget dollars to maximize the space, time and effort of volunteers.

My presence at Expo is with AMA but IMAC, a SIG of AMA is always in my conversations and when the booth is there I spend as much time as possible promoting IMAC.

I’ll put an “Action Item” topic up right now for NE Region to get names of those interested. I can promote this but I cannot organize it with my commitment to AMA during the Expo and I generally leave Sat pm for annual family vacation.

We hold a AMA District 1 and 2 officers meeting on Sat. IMAC initiatives will be presented.
