Reminder to IMAC pilots-

A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ON BEHALF OF EVENT CDs, SCOREKEEPERS and HOSTS.

PLEASE PRE REGISTER for anticipated contests at mini-iac.org Region/ Contest as soon as you can.

Why?

>It gives CDs and organizers a head count for planning. Allowing better support and coordination from host clubs.
>You are not “committed” for pre registering. We can remove “no shows”- plans change, that’s fine. Better to have pilots pre registered.
>Being pre registered allows scorekeepers, sometimes (in my case) a pilot, judge and host wearing many hats! the ability to import the list from an RD email for the scoring program. Much easier and quicker than manual entry!

So, pre register early! Thank you.

Ps. Check for duplicate registrations and remove unwanted one if possible.

You’re welcome. We do need to change the mind set out there that “I’ll just register when I get there”. Since it really does a disservice to CDs and the ability to plan. Another reason why these online resources “should” give more of our pilots a better idea of what is really involved in putting on a contest (behind the scenes).

By taking the online Score review I learned how easy it is to import a pilot list and then remove no shows (for whatever reason). Without first having the pre registration list the file doesn’t exist. Getting it via email and importing vs manual entry can save precious minutes for an understaffed contest (I’d say most are understaffed). By informing the members “why” it’s important to pre register, it creates a better motivation to do so rather than the old “make sure you register”. Information is power! Now they should “know the rest of the story” (for those old enough to remember Paul Harvey, “Page 4!”

Good luck Grizzl. Put out a FB post and do a reminder post on your Region Page here. I plan to do the same for Granite State. Link this PSA.

Where is this contest? I just looked at all regions and couldn’t find it? Maybe add info in this post and add a reminder on your region forum page and any FB groups.

This one possibly? Why I do not like "Aliases". And yes, always link them back to the sign up. "grizzz", is the correct contest?

The Mid Summer IMAC is not until 7/19. Curious as to why the 6/1 deadline for go no go based on pre-registrants?

Ty,

Can you please link the reg page. I don’t know what region it’s in.

The above post made the statement so I was trying to offer methods to promote. Not sure about the deadline.

The AMA expects CDs to hold any advertised contest and states in the the general rules that low attendance is not a reason to cancel a contest. If a CD cancels a contest less than 45 days out the CD is supposed to contact all preregistered contestants to tell them. Perhaps that is why they want to make the call by June 1.

Good point Brad. Proper notification of cancelation is procedural for CDs.

We don’t want to misrepresent registration counts but if we can get pilots in the habit of Pre registering once they are leaning towards a “go” decision it will be very helpful. The “I’ll just show and sign in” is not helpful to CDs and causes this discussion. If everyone did that we wouldn’t have any contests since no CDs would want to commit time and resources with no pilots on the list! Waiting until a few days before an event isn’t much better. Planning takes at least a week or more, even for established contests. If we want more new contests then cultivation and planning can take months or years!

The added benefits of being able to give a host club a better headcount, arranging volunteers in advance and the ability of exporting/ importing a nearly complete pilot list to Score make Pre registration a valuable tool.

The advantage and convenience of new online training resources along with promoting pre registration should increase the number of members willing to CD and volunteer at more contests. I would hope!

Grizzz, that’s exactly the point. Many members have not been CDs and have not run contests and don’t realize the points we have all raised here. It’s the same at all events I run or am involved in. Human nature! However, having the discussion will hopefully raise awareness and change behavior.

Sounds like you have a great event planned. I hope your Pilots read some of this and get pre- registered. I wish it were closer, I love BBQ and trophies aren’t bad either! Good luck.

This is the ads you need out there Grizz, http://www.mini-iac.org/...019---Sunday--07-21-2019

Real-estate is "Location Location Location". IMAC is "Promotion Promotion Promotion"

I also posted to the SE FB page as well.

Also you need to get an Unknown Manager plugged in there as well.... Just a heads up
