Shopping for a 50-55cc class airframe to replace my pilot rc yak 54. I haven’t been shopping for a few years, and have been shocked that there don’t seem to be any airframes being offered in this range. Everything seems to have been sized up to 60-70cc.

Any good recommendations for an extra or Yak airframe that will work with my DLE-55 for an IMAC practice plane?

It's not an Extra or a Yak but the ARS 300 from AJ Aircraft would work very well for you in that engine size.

Brad, are you looking for a new air frame or a used? I have a Peak 50cc Yak 54 that is in great condition that I might be willing to sell. Let me know if interested and i will text you some pics of it and give you more details about it. Marc

I think you should go with the H9 Folker DVll. If you can fly the Advance sequence with that then flying your Jtech
in the competition will be easy. BigGrin

Pulled the trigger on the AJ 300 ARS tonight. Now to figure out how to get it in the house without the wife seeing it....

Actually excited about trying a new airframe.

The new 86" AJ ARS 300 arrived today! Now to try to focus on the things I have to do when I'd rather be putting the plane togetherCursing

Hoping for a maiden at Black Dirt prior to the Regional Finals. Nice open field, long smooth runway.

Thanks for the link. I'm about 90 percent done with the build. Ran into a couple difficulties. I'm reusing the canister and DLE-55 that I've been flying on my old Yak-54 for a number of years. unfortunately, I had to order a new drop header as the ARS-300 requires a 50mm drop. Also, the KS canister I have is a 65 mm diameter, but the canister/pipe mounts in the kit are for 60mm diameter. I'm currently awaiting arrival of the header and KS comfort mount for the 65 mm. Once I get that done, mount the fuel tank, and balance to locate the batteries. UPS has the delivery estimated for Monday.

Since this will just be a practice plane, I'm leaving out the pilot figure to save a little weight. Will probably leave the wheel pants off most of the time to save them for "show".
