Nikolei - an open forum is probably not the best place to discuss the specifics, as there are several sensitivities. And no, I will not be specific about those sensitivities. If you have expertise, I would recommend you contact Doug via PM and possibly offer your expertise in the technical aspects of the changes we're considering.

To all others: As for the discussion of costs, methods, sources, etc - the Bylaws grant the BOD the authority make these decisions. We are asking for feedback on features you'd like to see, or problems you've had that we might be able to consider in our decision. Rehashing gripes and complaints about the past is not constructive. So please respect the other members and the BOD, and please keep your posts in this thread on topic. No single person on the BOD makes these decision on their own. It is a group decision. If you have trust issues with the Board, that is a separate discussion that doesn't belong in this thread.

Thank you,

I simply do not want to see the same mistakes happen again. As far as keeping things on topic, I will do my best.

I get that no one member of the BOD can make a decision without the support of the rest of the BOD. What I fear on some level is that some do not have the ability to stand against others for fear of being outed. I know I will be told that I am wrong or I don’t know all the details, the bottom line to that is I don’t believe your(BOD) side of the story. That is not a dig or being inflammatory, i have heard both sides of the story and have chosen sides.

The biggest being that the current Executive members of the BOD were NOT in charge when the new website was voted on. It was previous to Mike being President and long previous to myself being Vice President. Please be clear on these facts. Yes, when the site was being tested, the new administration did add some components to the website. But the lionshare of website cost was approved previously.

This is meant to be constructive:
Having been on the BOD when this occurred, I am fully aware of what is described above from both sides. It put me in a position where ethically I chose not to continue another term. I would suggest that IF the membership chooses to continue the website or any other new venture, that it instructs the BOD to do the following:
- Put spending limits in the bylaws to insure transparency. Pick some $ amount that the BOD and membership can work with. For ex: no more than 10% of the approved yearly budget given that the club can meet it's expenses for one calendar year. Need more than that? Get a member vote.
- Either get the issue decided with BOD vote in one term or have a budget/plan in place for the incoming BOD to work from. Keep surprises to a minimum for members and incoming BOD. If there's an "oopsy" or unintended circumstance than make it fully within the responsibility of the BOD to excersize whats best for the club within that 10% spending limit - nothing more without a member vote. I don't think it's reasonable to harness an incoming BOD with a previous decision (s), especially when the previous BOD did not perform their due diligence to an extent that the costs exceed 50% of the original numbers.

Side bar- I think it was a good reasonable decision to put this in open forum.
All good business plans a beginning AND an end.

The new forums are open at forums.mini-iac.org. Transition has begun. You will find that the "The Hangar" tab here now directs you to the new forums platform where a new account will need to be setup. We are asking for "Given Names" when you sign up. As there is a problem with confirming with the current website your user ID when you migrate since these 2 (two) platforms are not able to cross verify security roles. If you use an alias or ID we are not able to cross check with main membership accounts than we have no way to confirm your status nor update it in new forums.

If we are able to identify you thru an email address, your "Display Name" will be changed to reflect that so we are then able to give your permissions to the correct forums. Members Only, Committee Forums you may be a part of. ETC.

The OLD Forums are still available if you "Hover" over the "The Hangar" tab you will see "Forum Archive" which is the original forums and still active in a read and write state. HOWEVER, conversations are being continued on the new platform and we will make the "Forum Archive" a read only status when the majority of members have migrated.
