Since you guys were so good at helping me last time.... here is another. I am trimming out my airplane (just put a DA 120 on an EF 110" yak
) and now have to trim it out again. When putting my mix in for a rudder turn I noticed something that I have not before... I turn a much tighter radius with a left rudder turn then I do with a right rudder turn. Is this normal? Should I worry about this? I know that this mix is not intended or would not be used in this capacity, but it shows me that the throws dont really match. My ailerons seem to have the same roll rate both ways... so whats up with this rudder mix? I am sure their is a technical explanation, I would just rather hear what everyone else does. Do you just get to know your plane that well? Thanks in advance. Maybe I just need to trim out my airplane with some good pilots and bombard them with all these questions...

Are you sure that the right rudder throw is equal to the left rudder throw? Of course, you started over the trim process by checking the flying CG again (i.e. pull 45, roll inverted and let go of the sticks) etc etc.

That was the first thing I checked... I have a rudder throw gauge that I am going to put on it, it just seemed super excessive in the sky. On the ground it seemed pretty close

If you have more percentage mix-out in the right direction than the left you may be creating more drag to the right than to the left. Check to see that both ailerons have equal throw. Also, be looking out for a major announcement on the IMAC main page tomorrow - I think.

Jamie, go to the Training Library tab and click on the online training tab. Look under references for the complete how to trim your airplane. While you're at it, you may want to look through the training program.

Will do... have been following. Just seems different than any other "trimming issue" I have ever had to deal with

Jamie, The EF Yak has a good deal of rudder area which in turn produces a significant "Yaw" authority. You have just installed a new motor that will likely generate a higher "P" factor in a left hand (Port Side) rudder turn. When some of the more experienced pilots retuns from the Nat's, I'm sure they can provide more insight on the subject.

Jamie,
Steve would know, he's had a couple of these Yaks and always has them flying pretty well

I think that I am getting closer... spent some time with another pilot this weekend and made some big strides. It is like getting a new plane, starting from zero again. Teo steps forward and one step back. I did have my rudder servo motor burn out on me so I think that I had a bad servo. New servo seemed to have fixed the problem. My rudder wires seem to have loosen a little which was not good for anything that was going on. Its getting better.
